Hi everyone,
i would really apprediate your help.
I am trying to create frames in Jaws to use on the Net and in other programs that operate similar to the Net.
I have read the help files on Jaws, but odn't understand why toe frames I use don't work.
I get them to work in Microsoft Word, , but have tried to make some work on the zone website, but haven't been succssful.
I am thinking that some validation rules need to be changed but don't know which ones to change or how to go about setting thme.Any help would be appreciated.

James, you are trying to do something that i thought might be impossible. The very nature of the Internet is it's ever changing design making frames I would think totally useless. It's kind of like the place markers feature. They work great until someone redesigns the sight and then they are useless. Some people will take the time to reset them again but due to this problem I don't usually teach them. Now, if you are sure it's a static page perhaps it might work. I would be interested to know what exactly you are asking the frames to do and why you would want them on the internet? Perhaps If you share a bit more on how you would like to use them and what results you expect from them we can help further. You've always got some good ideas so I bet I will learn something here. Take care and have a great day.

Hi,
I am actually trying to use them for a customer service application at a credit card comp.
There is a screen that we look at often that shows the cardholder's account notes arranged by date from most recent to earliest.
The group of dates are on the top half of the screen and when you click on them, notes corresponding to that date show up in the bottom half of the screen in a box.
The box never changes size, shape, etc and I had a frame working with it at one time.
I came backt he next day and it wouldn't work.
I think it may be due to some software like Fortress that resets the hard drive to its original settings when you shut the computer down and restart, but am still checking with tehc ppl there to see if they have software like this installed or not.

That's a good idea, but the problem you may have is that your frames for this site is going to work for every other site you visit. Could be a disaster.

I suppose you've tried something simple like doing an insert+s to put screen echo to all and then activating various dates to see if the notes are read.

Otherwise, I think I would try to work a solution out with place markers and hit a k to get down to the frame. Your problem will then be how to get back to the date without a lot of effort. Actually, you might try putting a place marker at the date and use the letter m to get you down to the frame (assuming it is the only one on the screen) and then k to get back to the date.

Of course, I'm a little biased against frames as they are, I believe, needlessly difficult to setup, and require a completely changeless screen. But, I really don't think the internet is any place for frames.

Just my thoughts.

james, if you are using an internet site, frames are not what you ought to use.
Frames are good in a program that is not web based. If you are using a wegb page for this process, woof is right, place markers are the way to go.

how many place markers can a person make and is there a way to number or name them?
BTW, thanks for all the great help, everyone.

I'm confused... Are you trying to incoorperate frames in a website or navigate through a website w/frames?

If I remember correctly; there is a command to jump from frame one to frame two in jaws. I can't remember the command sorry. So for those who hate frames and or can't navigate through them I have a exit frame link. The link is simply to the web page not the frame set. Use that link, you'll enter into the web page. But do have a navigation strip on the top/bottom page of each pages so that people can navigate smoothly through it.

I'm tryign to navigate through a website with frames, but am going to try place markers as well.

You can set any number of placemarkers up for either a web site or domain.

I started to paste the text of the help topic on place markers here, but I think they may have changed a little for jaws 7+, so, bring up jaws help, press alt+n to get the index, and type placemarkers in the appropriate field and you'll have everything you ever wanted to know about placemarkers.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Hi Bob and everyon,
I have another monkey wrench to throw in and gum up the works.
The software I am trying to make frames and place markers for is based on FoxPro 9.
Does anyone know anything about this software and whether or not its possible to create frames and place markers in it?
I am using Jaws version 7.

Hi again everyone,
Just an update on frames with Jaws.
I upgraded to Jaws version 8 today, but the frames still wouldn't work.
They show up in frame viewer, but when I push the hot keys I set up associated with them, nothing happens.
